The 13 & under team won the LeSueur-Henderson Tournament on March 1st. They took 1st place in their pool beating Club Sota 14-2 (25-9, 25-17, SP Saints 14-1 (25-9, 25-8) and Hammerheads (25-9, 25-16). In the gold bracket the beat Club ’Sota 14-1 (25-17, 25-15). For the championship match they beat the Giants 2-1 (9-25, 25-19, 15-12).

The WEM JO volleyball season began February 1 & 2 at MSU-Mankato for all of our teams. The WEM 13’s won the championship in the 14 & under division. The girls went undefeated on the day. They beat Triton 2-1 to win the championship match. The WEM 17’s went 3-0 to win their pool. In bracket play they beat JWP to advance to the championship match. The 17’s were defeated by a very tough Southwestern Minnesota JO club to place 2nd overall. The WEM 16’s won their pool by going 2-1 in pool play. They then lost a tough fought match 1-2 in the semi-finals. The WEM 15’s went 0-3 in pool play. The WEM 12’s went 2-1 in pool play to finish 2nd. Then lost in the semi-finals to a strong Eastview team. The WEM 11’s went 0-4 for the day.

WEM #2 Seed Varsity Volleyball team will be playing #1 Seed Kenyon Wanamingo in the 2A Subsection Championship game at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter. The game is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.

The Bucs played against the Knights earlier in the year at the KW Tournament, losing 25-21, 25-14. Thursday night there is a lot more on the line – - let’s go show the team how proud we are and pack the stands. This is only the third time in school history that WEM has advanced to the subsection title game.

The 2nd game Thursday night promises to be a thriller also, with #1N seeded Belle Plaine and #2N Jordan facing off following the WEM / KW game Thursday night at Gustavus

The winner of the Sub-Section game will play Saturday @ 7:45 p.m. against the winner of the Belle Plaine vs Jordan game.

Come on out Thursday night – and cheer the girls on to a victory!

Waterville-Elysian-Morristown (20-7, 4-2) received the second seed in the 2AA South and hosts seventh-seeded Blue Earth Area (0-21-2, 0-7) at 7 p.m. on Oct. 24 in Waterville.

The 2AA South semifinals are on Oct. 29 at Mankato East High School, and the sub-section championship is on Oct. 31 at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter.

The 2AA title match is on Nov. 2 at Gustavus. Third-ranked Belle Plaine (20-5, 11-0) received the top seed in the 2AA North.

Come out and cheer the WEM Bucs in playoffs.

The WEM volleyball program donated a bench to the WEM school district in memory of Lori Hiller. The bench will be placed outside the Morristown school.
